The Executive Director of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE),<\/strong> Dr. David Julien, participated in a working mission to Chile on October 4-7, 2016, in order to attend the IOHE Andean Countries Regional Assembly<\/strong>, the Andean Countries EMULIES Meeting,<\/strong> and strengthen ties with university and government authorities.<\/p>\n

The Regional Assembly took place at the Santiago Campus of Universidad de los Lagos,<\/a><\/em> host institution of the Regional Vice-Presidency, led by its President, Dr. \u00d3scar Garrido \u00c1lvarez. A total of 18 member representatives attended the activity.<\/p>\n

“The Andean countries\u2019 participation is always enriching, diverse and enthusiastic, a reflection of the region and the four countries that compose it: Bolivia, Chile, Ecuador and Peru. We are planning many projects and we are certain that we count with the necessary commitment and leadership\u201d, Dr. David Julien said.<\/p>\n

At the Universidad de Los Lagos, <\/em>the IOHE Executive Director met with high authorities, researchers and academics to tighten interinstitutional relations.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the IOHE participated in parallel meetings with Dr. Mar\u00eda Isabel Munita, Executive Director, Consejo de Rectores de las Universidades Chilenas<\/em> (CRUCH); Dr. Marcela Letelier, Executive Director, Consorcio de Universidades del Estado de Chile<\/em> (CUECH); the team in charge of internationalization at the Universidad de Santiago de Chile<\/em>; and Dr. Christian Nicolai, Executive Director of the Comisi\u00f3n Nacional de Investigaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica y Tecnol\u00f3gica<\/em> (CONICYT). Within the framework of this international mission, <\/em>Dr. Julien also had a rendezvous with H.E. Canadian Ambassador to Chile, Marcel Lebleu.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, Dr. Julien participated in the Andean Countries Meeting of the Space for Women Leaders of Higher Education Institutions of the Americas (EMULIES)<\/strong>, which was possible thanks to the collaboration of the Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica Metropolitana<\/em> (UTEM). This initiative was launched by the IOHE program College of the Americas (COLAM)<\/strong>. The main theme of the\u00a0event was \u201cGender Equality and Leadership in Higher Education: Experiences, Accomplishments and Challenges\u201d.<\/p>\n

The IOHE hosts the Executive Secretariat of the Conference of the Americas on International Education (CAIE).<\/a> The Fifth edition of the event will take place in Montreal, Canada.<\/p>\n
