Emphasis was placed on the importance of integrating sustainability into teaching, research, and university management; the impact that institutions can have on their communities; and the fact that universities do not merely transmit knowledge: they have the power to transform societies.<\/p>\n<p>The session was opened by Dr. Leticia Jim\u00e9nez, Academic Director of the Inter-American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), who provided context on the strategic importance of the SDGs for the IOHE.
